HAIKU

For Mommy’s 91st birthday celebration, the family dined at a local Japanese restaurant to enjoy her favorite food.

Her eldest grandchild, Myka, made birthday cards for the family to write haiku poems in her honor. After our meal, we stood up one by one, and happily read our poems aloud to the birthday girl.

These are the words we wrote for our beloved Mommy.

  • Queen of the closet

Is that a Coke in your purse?

    Let’s eat some Banh Mi

  • A mother of five

    And a grandmother of twelve

    Legacy of love

  • I’m your favorite

We all know it’s me, not Sam

    One word: pineapple

  • Just like Jamie said

    I’m your favorite daughter

    Third time is a charm

  • Born on Christmas Day

    No denying she’s God’s fav

    I love her soooo much

  • Ninety-one and young

    Classy, sassy, & gorgeous

    Forever my love

  • Little things with you

    Like movies, mahjong, and meals

    I’ll cherish for life

  • I love my Mommy

    Go Costco and Trader Joe’s

    God keeps Mommy safe

  • Skin glows like J. Lo

    Everyday fashionista

    Queen of Bejeweled

  • Naty, I wish you

    A feliz cumpleaños

    Best Mother-in-Law

  • When she was younger

Men were dying at her feet

    She cut my hair once

  • Born on Christmas Day

    Lola from the Philippines

    A gift to us all

  • The series The Crown?

    Elizabeth can’t compare

    To us you are Queen

  • Let’s face it, you’re old

But it’s a gift to us all

    You beautiful soul

  • My teeth went missing

Paige took them for me to find

    But I’m still smiling
